VIP ToursLocal Dignitaries Tour Schools
District tours were conducted for area dignitaries during the first week of school to help acquaint them with Newton school facilities and programs. Harvey County Sheriff A.J. Wuthnow and Under-sheriff B.J. Tyner toured Chisholm Middle School with school principal Cesar Peña. Wuthnow and Tyner discussed Chisholm’s safety and crisis response plan with Peña, who showed them the building and highlighted the school’ s safety procedures for various scenarios. Wuthnow indicated his desire to work closely with the district in coordinating crisis response efforts and provided the school with bookmarks to distribute to students promoting safe use of the internet. Others who participated in the district tours included North Newton Mayor Ron Braun, Kansas Representative Don Schroeder, and Shirley Goering of North Newton. .
