The
Ice Cream Cone Turns 104
The ever popular treat, the ice-cream cone, turned 104 on September 22.
South Breeze first graders, always up for helping a friend celebrate a
birthday, commemorated the auspicious event with an ice cream cone party at
Dairy Queen. The ice cream cone was invented by the Italian immigrant Italo
Marchiony in 1903 in New York City. Although Marchiony is credited with the
invention of the cone, a similar creation was independently introduced at
the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis.
