Health Insurance Information
June 12, 2008
For all staff who participate in the district's health insurance plan:
During the current plan year, it is projected that our group health insurance claims paid out will be 124% of the premium paid. This caused our current health plan premiums to rise 26%. A health insurance committee composed of teachers, administrators and classified staff looked at options and decided to go with a different health insurance plan from Blue Cross/Blue Shield called AffordaBlue. The differences in the plan from our current coverage are summarized in the charts listed above. Since the district paid amount is somewhat different, the teacher information is in one chart and the classified/administrator information is in the second chart. The district paid amounts are based on the current year and are subject to change. While premiums still increased on the AffordaBlue option, the increases were less than if we stayed with the current plan. There is also a third option with higher deductibles that gives the opportunity for a lower premium.
If you are enrolled in our current health plan, you will be required to complete new enrollment forms for the AffordaBlue plan. You must come to the McKinley Administrative Center on the scheduled dates to complete enrollment information. Enrollment will be in the Board of Education Meeting Room. You may also make changes to your other benefits at that time.
Dates and times of enrollment are:
- July 28 -- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- July 29 -- 2-8 p.m.
- July 30 -- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
