AlertNow Notification Service
- Newton Public Schools uses AlertNow to relay important messages to parents and school district staff, Messages are initiated by the Superintendent of Schools, the Public Information office or your school Principal and include general school announcements, delayed openings, early dismissals, school closings and emergencies.
- The phone numbers and email addresses used by the AlertNow system to call parents are those provided during enrollment. Note: School closings due to weather are not considered an emergency call. In case of a weather-related school closing, only the primary phone number will be called, not all numbers listed for emergency contacts. Please make sure that you contact your child's school if your AlertNow numbers change.

Cancellations & School Closings
- All athletics and event cancellations, changes, and postponements will be posted on the district's calendar of events which is updated live as event information is entered.

DynaCal Calendar
What is DynaCal?
DynaCal is our schools' online Calendar System, which
allows a quick and easy way to schedule all events. All the events are
scheduled in DynaCal, and it instantly updates the online calendar for your
convenience. You can view our online calendar at
www.dynacal.com/npsusd373. You can also narrow the view of events for
specific departments, schools, or other featured calendars we have created for
quick access.
The online calendar provided by DynaCal is used to effectively communicate school and athletic events, announcements, updates and more. The My DynaCal feature offers instant communication by sending you emails and/or mobile phone text messages* in case of cancellation, postponement, or rescheduling of an event.
By setting up a My DynaCal profile (instructions below) you will be able to:

- ▪Select which types/categories of events you would like to receive notifications about
- ▪Create customized views of school events, based on what your children are involved
- ▪Create multiple calendar views based on each child’s involvement
- ▪Share those calendar views via email with anyone that would like your child’s schedule

Instructions to Setup My DynaCal
My DynaCal Instant Notifications

Setup My DynaCal & Custom Calendar Views
1.
Go to: www.dynacal.com/npsusd373
2.
Click on the My DynaCal link (left navigation panel)
3.
Enter email and password
4.
Choose “Add New Calendar”
5.
Give the calendar a name (i.e. Jonny’s Band Events)
6.
Select the categories of events that you would like to view in this calendar
7.
Once you select the categories you wish to view in this customized view click on
“Save”
You can create as many different calendars as you wish, by repeating steps 4 through 7, listed above. Once your calendar views are created, you can choose to be notified via email or text message in case of changes to events in your selected categories.
My DynaCal & Instant Notifications
The notifications will be automatically generated once the event is cancelled,
postponed, or rescheduled. The notifications can reach you via email or
mobile phone messages.

Syncing Dynacal with Google
Go to the DynaCal calendar.
1. Click on the My DynaCal link (left
navigation panel)

2. Enter email and password (or set up new account)
3. Choose “Add New Calendar”
4. Give the calendar a name (i.e. Jonny’s Band Events)
5. Select the categories of events that you would like to view in this calendar
6. Once you select the categories you wish to view in this customized view click
“Save”
7. Select "iCal Subscription" to the right of your new named calendar
8. Login into your Google Calendar and on the left navigation of your Google
calendar go to Other calendars, select Add/Add by URL/copy the URL from DynaCal
and paste into the Google URL field, then click Add Calendar.
After subscribing, all new events, changes, cancellations and postponements will
update on your Google calendar automatically.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
- Dates and times of conferences will be posted on the district calendar. Please check with your child's school for more information.
Infinite Campus
- Infinite Campus is the student information system used by Newton USD 373 schools. One of the features of Infinite Campus is the parent portal. Using a school-issued activation code, legal parents/guardians can access attendance, grades, and schedule information on a daily basis.
- One portal may be shared by authorized family members. However, if a separate portal is needed, please contact your child’s school.
- The student portal is available for students in grades 3-12.
- Access both the parent portal and the student portal by clicking on the Infinite Campus

Bullying Policy

Excerpted from the
USD 373 Board Policy Manual
(GAAB, GAAE, JCE, JGEC, JGECA, JDD, JBBC and EBC) - The board of education prohibits bullying and cyber-bullying in any form, including electronic means, on or while using school property, in a school vehicle or at a school sponsored activity or event. The administration shall propose, and the board shall review and approve a plan to address bullying on school property, in a school vehicle or at a school sponsored activity or event.
- The plan shall include provisions for the training and education of staff members and students and shall include appropriate community involvement as approved by the board. Students who have bullied others in violation of this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including suspension and expulsion. If appropriate, students who violate the bullying prohibition shall be reported to local law enforcement.
- USD 373 Bullying Plan - JDDC
- Bullying means: Any intentional gesture or any intentional written, verbal, electronic or physical act or threat that is sufficiently severe, persistent or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening or abusive educational environment for a student or staff member that a reasonable person, under the circumstances, knows or should know will have the effect of:
- • Harming a student or staff member, whether physically or mentally;
- • Damaging a student’s or staff member’s property: G-9
- • Placing a student or staff member in reasonable fear of harm; or
- • Placing a student or staff member in reasonable fear of damage to the student’s or staff member’s property.
- Bullying also includes cyberbullying. “Cyberbullying” means bullying by use of any electronic communication device through means including, but not limited to, e-mail, instant messaging, text messages, blogs, mobile phones, pagers, online games and websites.
- Additionally, bullying means any form of intimidation or harassment prohibited by the board of education of the school district in policies concerning bullying adopted pursuant to K.S.A. 72-8256 or subsection (e) of K.S.A. 72-8205, and amendments thereto. USD 373 will not tolerate these actions by students or staff.
- Any act of bullying by either an individual student or group of students is prohibited on or while utilizing school property, in a school vehicle or at school-sponsored functions. This policy applies to students who directly engage in an act of bullying, to students who, by their behavior, support another student’s act of bullying, and to all staff members who engage in similar behaviors.
- No teacher, administrator, or school district employee shall engage in, permit, or tolerate bullying.
- Retaliation against a victim, good faith reporter, or a witness to bullying is prohibited.
- A person who engages in an act of bullying, reprisal, retaliation or false reporting of bullying, shall be subject to discipline in accordance with school district policy and procedures. The school district may take into account the following factors: the ages of the parties involved; the developmental and maturity levels, special education needs of the parties involved, and the severity of the behavior.
- Discipline guidelines for student and staff bullying are found in the appropriate handbooks. Offenses over time may result in discipline up to and including suspension and/or expulsion or termination from employment. As appropriate, reports to local law enforcement will be filed to report criminal bullying behaviors. (See Policies EBC, GAAC, GAACA, JGEC, JGECA and KN)

- Bullying by Staff - GAAE
