School district data for 2009-10 school year: 66.6% of students were Caucasian,  26.4% Hispanic, 2.4% African American and 6.6% were of other race/ethnicity. Newton has a growing percentage of families who qualify as economically disadvantaged (53%). The gender breakdown for Newton Public Schools is 53% male and 47% female.
