What is Student Council?
STUCO or Student Council at CMS is a group of students and advisors (Mrs. Altum
and Mrs. Kaufman) who help organize events and activities for the CMS student
body. Often STUCO members are asked to be leaders for their class by giving
announcements, making information posters, helping at dances, and giving input
when our principals ask for it. Several different events that have been hosted
by STUCO in the past include, school dances, special projects around our school,
spirit week, fundraisers for community organizations, Red Ribbon Week, and fun
days at school. This year our school planners have information from “The 7
Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey. In STUCO we will be using that
information to help us learn to be better students and leaders at our school. At
meetings we will talk briefly about one of the habits and challenge each other
to work toward improvement.
All students should enter in the
back door of the art room. During that meeting you will be introduced to the
officers, talk about the school year and be given a permission slip. Return it
at the next meeting and start making a difference at CMS!
We look forward to another great year and hope you will join us!
