PURPOSE OF PROGRAM – To prepare children and families before entering kindergarten.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES – Project Head Start is a national program for preschool age children from income eligible families. Head Start provides a program of comprehensive developmental services based on the needs of the individual child, the child’s family and the community. Head Start’s commitment to individualization for all children includes a commitment to serve children with disabilities in a mainstream environment. At least ten percent of the enrollment opportunities in Head Start are made available to children with a professionally diagnosed disability.
SCHEDULE OF SERVICE DELIVERY – Newton has (4) classes a day which serves sixty-eight children. Classes run between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. These sessions are held Monday through Thursday. Transportation is provided for children in the Newton and Hesston area.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – Head Start is free to families accepted for the program. Head Start accepts children 3 to 5 years of age.
FEES – No fees are charged.
