Scholars Bowl

Scholars’ Bowl is an academic competition in which teams of four students try to be the first to correctly answer questions posed over the following academic areas: foreign language, language arts, science and health, social studies, mathematics, fine arts, and current events. This activity is sanctioned by the KSHSAA, which holds a state championship competition in February of each school year. This culminates a competitive season that begins in mid-October.

Newton High School has been recognized as possessing one of the outstanding Scholars’ Bowl programs in Kansas, with consistently excellent placings in league, regional, and statewide competitions. With a schedule of 16 to 20 meets the varsity and junior varsity/novice levels, students have numerous opportunities to compete throughout their high school careers.
